‘Food Safety on Wheels’, a mobile food testing laboratory of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) was flagged off in the city by Collector Pratik Tayal on Tuesday.Besides testing food items, the mobile unit would also be involved in raising awareness of food safety among various sections of society.The unit would help check adulteration in food and sale of food products in unhygienic conditions. It would be used to carry out tests during festivals, at markets and other places of public congregation, an official press release said.The mobile laboratory is equipped to carry out tests on 80 parameters under seven categories including basic microbiological and adulteration tests. The unit would travel across the district covering places of public congregations and educational institutions, including those in rural areas, the release added.
