AmaZulu king Misuzulu kaZwelithini has revealed the new role of his former royal chancellor inkosi Malusi Zondi, after weeks of uncertainty.
In an official appointment ceremony which was conducted on behalf of the king by his Traditional Prime Minister Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi on Tuesday at Mbelebeleni royal palace in Durban, Zondi was unveiled as the head of Economy and Cultural Envoy.
This position will give Zondi direct authority to work with hostel izinduna zamabutho (hostel headmen in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng) and public and private businesses. Zondi also retains his previous position as Iso leSilo (the king’s representative in urban areas populated by the Zulus).
In a statement Zondi issued through his foundation, he expressed his gratitude to the king for officially appointing him to the position. He also thanked the king for re-appointing him to be his representative (iSo leSilo).
