A three-member inter-State gang has been arrested by the Dhone Town and CCS Nandyal police in connection with the theft of a large quantity of cigarettes from an ITC warehouse, and ₹14 lakh in cash, a car and 45 litres of illicit liquor were seized from them.Addressing the media here on Wednesday (June 3, 2026), Superintendent of Police Suneel Sheoran said the cigarettes were stolen in the early hours of April 20, within the Dhone Town police station limits, and the arrests followed an investigation into the case. The three accused had allegedly been involved in other offences earlier, he said.The three accused were arrested near Rudraksha Gutta on the road to Gooty, outside Dhone town, by special police teams formed to investigate the case. They were moving suspiciously in a car, registration number DL1CQ9769, when the police caught them, and during questioning they were found to be members of an inter-State gang of thieves from Rajasthan, the SP said.Mr. Suneel Sheoran said the accused had allegedly told the police during questioning that they, along with another accomplice, had committed the theft at the warehouse in Dhone town and sold the stolen goods in Hyderabad. The four-member gang had also allegedly committed similar burglaries in Kadapa town, the SP said, adding that the fourth accused was absconding.According to the SP, one of the accused, Laxman Ram Kumawat, was allegedly involved in offences in Kamareddy, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and other places in Telangana, and in Karnataka, and the two other accused, Ghanshyam alias Ganpat and Manak Chand Kumawat, were allegedly involved in offences in several police station limits in Telangana.
