Award-winning British actor Idris Elba has officially become Sir Idris Elba after receiving a knighthood from King Charles III during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle.
The 53-year-old actor, celebrated for his standout performances in the television series The Wire and Luther, was among several notable figures honoured by the monarch on Tuesday.
Elba's knighthood was first announced in King Charles' 2026 New Year Honours List in recognition of his services to young people.
The honour was formally conferred on June 2 when the King touched a ceremonial sword to the actor's shoulders as he knelt before him, completing the centuries-old tradition.
