A tragic incident during Eid al-Adha celebrations in Free State has left a family grieving the loss of 12-year-old Amatullah Bint Ismail Mungur.

A TRAGIC accident during Eid al-Adha celebrations last week, has left a family mourning the loss of 12-year-old Amatullah Bint Ismail Mungur, who was killed after she was hit by a stray bullet on a secluded farm in Franschhoek, near Ficksburg in the Free State.

The incident occurred on the morning of May 29, when Amatullah accompanied her family to the remote hunting farm where a cow was to be slaughtered for distribution among relatives and friends during the Muslim religious festival of Eid al-Adha.

According to Free State police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring, Riwaan Madaka (26) appeared in the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of culpable homicide.

He was granted bail of R1,000 and the matter was adjourned to July for further investigation.
