For those planning a sunny seaside escape, there's an abundance of gorgeous spots to choose from. One firm favourite is Porthmeor Beach in St Ives.Beach lovers are so taken with the scenery that some reckon it could give the Caribbean a run for its money. Perfect for both swimmers and surfers, visitors are greeted by a "soft, sandy beach" at this award-winning stretch of coast near Tate St Ives. According to Visit Cornwall, the beach is an excellent choice for families.The tourism board says: "Though surfing is the headline at Porthmeor Beach, there's no shortage of various other activities for the entire family. When the wind is calm, the water is perfect for a swim, while you can drip-dry on the vast stretch of sand afterwards."Adventurers both young and old can explore the numerous rock pools that lie in wait at the west end of the beach, where tiny marine creatures hop pools like bus stops. If you find yourself wanting more out of Porthmeor, why not visit a local hire shop and try stand up paddleboarding?"The destination is also popular with TripAdvisor reviewers, reports Cornwall Live. Porthmeor Beach is ranked among the top five things to do in St Ives, with over 900 excellent ratings. Praising the beach, one visitor wrote: "Have visited a few Cornish beaches and every one of them is beautiful and this one is no different."Look out over those golden sands and turquoise waters and you would think you were halfway across the world. Simply stunning."A second reviewer said: "This beach is absolutely stunning. On a hot day you could imagine you were in the Maldives or somewhere far more exotic! Totally beautiful." Another fan shared: "We went here every day during our 5-day escape to St Ives."It’s one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen, on par with the Caribbean and Mediterranean.
