US-facilitated talks in Washington between Lebanon and Israel are advancing, with a fourth round held and another scheduled.

State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott says negotiations are progressing on political and security tracks towards a comprehensive agreement.

A ceasefire is in effect, with the US ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, confirming it was announced yesterday and remains active.

Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon killed five and wounded 48, including medical staff at Tebnine Governmental Hospital, drawing condemnation over violations of international norms.
