Moving cities is rarely just about changing an address. It often means leaving behind routines, memories, favourite neighbourhood spots, and a home filled with years of accumulated belongings. For one woman, relocating from Gurgaon to Bengaluru meant doing all of that while also downsizing from a spacious 4 BHK house to a smaller rented apartment. Yet instead of focusing on what was lost, she chose to embrace the transition and create a home that reflected her personality, regardless of ownership.Karishma Koul recently shared a video on Instagram, giving viewers a glimpse of her new apartment in Bengaluru and opening up about the challenges and emotions that came with the move. Welcoming viewers into her new space, Karishma explained that the relocation marked a major life change for her family. After spending 13 years in Gurgaon, they decided it was time to pack their bags, leave what she described as their first home, and begin a new chapter in Bengaluru.Reality of moving from Gurgaon to BengaluruWhile many people might assume the biggest adjustment was moving from an owned property into a rented one, Karishma revealed that this was not the issue that concerned her the most. According to her, the real challenge was fitting the contents of a 4 BHK house into a smaller 3 BHK apartment. She explained that their Gurgaon home had wardrobes in every bedroom, while the new Bengaluru apartment only had wardrobes in two rooms. As a result, managing space became significantly more complicated than simply changing cities. The downsizing process forced the family to make some difficult decisions.Giving up belongingsKarishma shared that they had to part with a considerable number of belongings before relocating. Rather than moving everything, they chose to give away much of their household items to their house help and watchman in Gurgaon. The decision helped them reduce clutter while ensuring that items they no longer needed found a useful home elsewhere.Despite moving into a rented apartment, Karishma was clear about one thing from the beginning: she wanted the new place to feel like home. She said she and her family decided that even though it was a rental property, they would decorate it as if it were their own. In her view, whether a house is owned or rented should not determine how much care and personality go into it. Karishma expressed the belief that every home should bring peace and reflect the people living in it. In the video, Karishma mentioned that only the drawing room has been fully set up so far, while several cartons remain unpacked in other rooms. Even so, she said she was "really happy" with how the space had turned out. The move also seems to represent more than just a change of residence. In the caption accompanying the video, Karishma described Bengaluru as "the next destination of our lives" and expressed excitement about everything the city has to offer. Internet reactsInternet users warmly welcomed Karishma's move to Bengaluru. One user congratulated her on starting a new chapter and "stepping out of your comfort zone." Another commenter welcomed her to the city and mentioned being a mother of a three-year-old, saying they would love to meet her someday. Others wished her a wonderful experience in Bengaluru, while one user praised the apartment, saying they could clearly see the effort put into making the space feel like home and wished her a "wonderful new beginning."
