A job candidate was left absolutely heartbroken when his job offer got rescinded just one hour before he started working. Taking to the subreddit Recruiting Hell, the distressed Reddit user shared he was approached by an insurance company - went through multiple rounds of interview which he passed with flying colours. This was followed by a test assignment in which he scored very well. The organisation did a thorough background checking. Then he was given a job offer. He was supposed to start the job in twelve hours. Then came the shocker.Just an hour before he was to join the company he got a call from the HR who informed him that the CEO personally checked his CV and found that years of experience to be insufficient so the offer was rescinded. “The same CEO who was never involved in the interviews, who didn’t look at my CV until the last possible second. Who let the team, the HR, and the whole process run for 1.5 months and then just said “nah” They reached out first, interviewed me, they made me stop looking for a job, they made me lose ONE AND A HALF MONTH OF MY LIFE. And then decided to rescind the offer…” he vented. The candidate expressed his despondency, revealing that this was one of the most promising jobs he had come across and now he was feeling so demoralised, he feared he would never come across another such opportunity. He ended the post on a bitter note that he was used to getting ghosted and rejected at internships with minimal pay, so this was no surprise. Redditors ReactOne Reddit user theorised that the company most likely found another candidate, someone known to the CEO. Another advised the job seeker never to stop looking for a job until they actually join a company. “Never stop looking for a job until you start your new job. Sorry this happened to you sounds really shitty…” the comment read. Another remarked: “When I was a recruiter, I can't tell you how many times I've had a the process gummed up or completely derailed because some C-Level executive decided to involve themselves. Whether it is to merely 'give their blessing' or decide they are going to swing their dick around during the interview process, .it almost never bodes well.”
