Iconic Auckland student radio station 95bFM has announced it will relocate to Karangahape Road, after 57 years on the University of Auckland campus.

Beginning as a capping stunt in a boat on the Hauraki Gulf in 1969, the station has remained on university grounds ever since.

95bFM’s general manager Tom Tremewan said the move will be major, but the station and its community are ready for it.

“95bFM has been part of Auckland’s creative culture for 60 years. This is a big moment for the station and for everyone who has contributed to its history,” he said.

The launching pad where legions of New Zealand’s musicians, journalists, media personalties, and comedians honed their crafts, bFM has etched its place in Aotearoa’s creative history.
