The major grocery retailers - Foodstuffs and Woolworths - have 82 percent of the market, just 2 percent down from 2020.

Auckland is the most competitive market in the country, with 71 percent of the market held by the duopoly. The top and west coast of the South Island were the least competitive, at 92 percent.
