New Delhi: The working strength of the Supreme Court reached 37 after five new judges took oath on Tuesday.Chief Justice of India Surya Kant administered the oath of office to justices Sheel Nagu, Shree Chandrashekhar, Sanjeev Sachdeva, Arun Palli and V Mohana. Until justice Mohana's appointment, justice BV Nagarathna was the only woman judge in the top court. Justice Mohana is also the second woman lawyer to be directly elevated from the bar to the apex court after former judge, justice Indu Malhotra.Top court gets a woman judge after a gap of more than five yearsThe Supreme Court collegium headed by CJI Kant on May 27 recommended the elevation of the four high court chief justices and senior advocate Mohana to the top court. The central government cleared the recommendations on Monday.
