New Delhi: Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai was in New Delhi on Tuesday to meet party leaders amid talks of him charting his own political course in the state.Annamalai first met BJP general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh and discussed his plans to start a statewide yatra under a new banner.Also Read: Annamalai set to exit BJP soon, may launch new political party after Delhi meetings: ReportLater, Annamalai met BJP chief Nitin Nabin and informed him of his intention to quit the party. Sources told ET that Nabin heard him intently and assured to look into the matters raised by him. He was apprised by the party leaders about his importance in BJP and that the party was planning new roles for him.During the state assembly polls, Annamalai was unhappy with seat distribution and seats given to BJP by AIADMK. Recently, he also raised questions on CBSE's 3-language policy in the context of Tamil Nadu.With the rise of TVK under Vijay and the decline of Dravidian parties, Annamalai thinks there is scope for a new alternative. He feels that with his aggressive politics he can try to fill that gap. Annamalai also discussed his yatra with Shah who promised him that the state BJP unit would extend full cooperation.It is a wait-and-watch situation for Annamalai and BJP, with both avoiding speaking on the outcome of his meetings in New Delhi. On Monday, before departing for New Delhi, Annamalai had said that things will be clear in the coming two days. Meanwhile, state BJP chief Nainar Nagendran has been called to the national capital by the party leadership to discuss the situation. Annamalai is likely to make a statement to the media on Wednesday regarding his decision.
