Today, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the second boy has also died following the crash.Devon and Cornwall Police were called shortly before 11am on May 29 following a road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles on the westbound carriageway of the A30.The five-year-old was taken to Bristol Children’s Hospital with serious injuries but sadly died there today. The eight-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday.Two other women who were travelling in the same car as the boys also suffered injuries. A woman in her 70s suffered serious injuries and is being treated at Derriford Hospital, and a woman in her 40s was treated for injuries at Derriford and has since been discharged.A driver was arrested in connection with the incident, the force said. The suspect, described as a local man in his 60s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was treated for minor injuries.Relatives are being supported by specially trained officers, Cornwall Live reports.Detective Inspector Andy Heath of Devon and Cornwall Police Serious Collisions Investigation Team said: “I am saddened to confirm that a second boy has passed away following Friday’s collision on the A30.Article continues below“It is important that the family are given the privacy needed at this difficult time and my thoughts remain with them and others affected by this tragic incident.
