When a Swiss couple, Paul and Marianne Borner, left Switzerland on August 19, 2017, they had hoped for a good time at their holiday home in Kenya.

With the General Election over and the country gradually returning to normalcy, the couple had looked forward to a quiet stay at their Nyali home, where they had lived since 2003. Instead, their trust in familiarity proved fatal.
