A teacher who successfully challenged his dismissal has suffered a temporary setback after the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Machakos halted his reinstatement pending an appeal by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The court ruled that the reinstatement of Mr Kennedy Odhiambo Akongo should be put on hold until TSC's appeal against a lower court judgment is heard and determined.
The decision temporarily halts a January ruling by the Makueni Chief Magistrate’s Employment and Labour Relations Court, which found that Mr Akongo had been unfairly dismissed and ordered his reinstatement together with compensation equivalent to 12 months’ salary.
