OTTAWA- Canada has formally notified the United States and Mexico it wishes to renew the continental free trade pact for another 16 years while saying it is open to improvements.

In a letter Monday to his counterparts, Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc stressed the mutual benefits to all three economies of the free trade region that spans North America.
