US President Donald Trump named Bill Pulte on Tuesday as the acting director of national intelligence (acting DNI).

Pulte is currently the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which supervises mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The 38-year-old will remain in that role while also taking on the role of acting DNI.

Pulte will take over the position from Tulsi Gabbard, a former Hawaii congresswoman and foreign wars skeptic who resigned from the job after her husband's cancer diagnosis.
