Three fugitives were recaptured after a 24-hour manhunt involving special security forces and a police helicopter in Kuwait’s desert.

Ali Manahi Al Subaie and Hassan Salem Al Rashidi faced death sentences for separate murders; Ahmed Mohammed Qatea was serving life for drug offences.

The trio escaped after midnight via air conditioning vents, then scaled a deserted watchtower using a rope fashioned from hoses and clothes.

They were caught in the Bar Al Liyah area after a high-speed pursuit in a red pick-up truck by a convoy of police vehicles.
