June 2 (UPI) -- Democrats will determine who their candidates will be to try to flip Iowa's governor and a Senate seat blue Tuesday while Republicans look to hold open seats.

California, New Mexico, Montana, New Jersey and South Dakota round out the six states with primary elections on Tuesday. California's key elections include races to succeed Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Two Iowa Republicans are running to represent the party in the gubernatorial election against Democrat and State Auditor Rob Sand. Sen. Randy Feenstra from deeply conservative learning Northwest Iowa is leaving his seat to run against Zach Lahn of Belle Plain, Iowa.

Lahn has positioned himself as the more conservative candidate while Feenstra has touted his record voting with President Donald Trump.
