Three people were killed, and four others remain missing after an SUV carrying eight people plunged into a river near Devprayag in Uttarakhand’s Tehri Garhwal district on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) morning, officials said.A boy was rescued with serious injuries and admitted to a hospital. A search-and-rescue operation was underway in the area till late evening.State Disaster Response Force Commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi informed that after the driver lost control, the vehicle veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge before being swept away by the river. Rescue teams carried out operations in difficult terrain and challenging river conditions.The vehicle had five female and three male occupants.
