The operation marked Israel’s deepest ground advance since the 2000 withdrawal from the security zone and followed a wave of repeated Hezbollah rocket and drone attacks against northern Israeli communities.Beaufort Castle sits atop one of southern Lebanon’s most commanding ridges overlooking the Litani River and the Nabatiyeh plateau. From these heights, Hezbollah maintained surveillance and launch infrastructure capable of threatening Jerusalem’s northern border. Control of such terrain is not symbolic. It is decisive.
