A woman from Singapore died in Bhutan after she reportedly fell ill while hiking down from Tiger's Nest Monastery, one of the country's most revered Buddhist landmarks.

The woman was part of a tour organized by travel agency Chan Brothers and was descending the monastery when she informed an accompanying guide that she was feeling unwell on May 30, The Straits Times reported.

Immediate assistance, including CPR, was administered on site while emergency arrangements were activated.

She was subsequently transported to Paro Hospital for emergency treatment, which could not save her.
