Ollie Watkins reckons Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has the maturity and skill to help England go deep at the World Cup in North America this summer13:24, 02 Jun 2026Ollie Watkins has labelled Jude Bellingham the 'complete midfielder' - and backed him to take the World Cup by storm.‌Bellingham has endured a difficult season with Real Madrid, which saw the Spanish giants fail to win a single trophy and sack two managers. But Bellingham will be looking to put all this behind him this summer when Thomas Tuchel's Three Lions look to conquer the world in North America. Bellingham will be instrumental to England's chances of doing well.‌And Three Lions team-mate Watkins, appearing on Rio Ferdinand Presents has no doubts Bellingham can repeat what he did back in 2022 in Qatar - and shine on the biggest stage again.‌Watkins said: "His super strength is, I think, he's an all-round complete midfielder. I think that he can do everything, and I think his physical capability as well. Getting around the pitch, he always wants the ball."I think that's massive, you know, for a midfielder as well, where you're going to lose the ball at times, but he'll run back, he'll obviously sprint forward.JOIN US ON FACEBOOK! He has even earned a reputation for being intimidating towards some of his own England colleagues. But Watkins reckons people are mistaken - and that Bellingham shows maturity and leadership qualities which belie his 22 years.‌Watkins added: "To be fair, whenever I've played with him, I think I've looked around and thought, you would feel like he's a, you know, 28, 30-year-old guy. The way he handles himself, and the way he carries himself."On the pitch, he's, you know, throwing his arms around, not like moaning, but to get the crowd going. And I think he gives off a feeling that, you know, just to always believe and keep pushing.‌"I think he likes that responsibility - and takes it on his shoulders. And as a team-mate, it's good to see players that do that."Head to the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel from 8am on Tuesday 2nd June to watch the full interview.Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
