The founder of surveillance firm Intellexa should be subpoenaed by the prosecutor of the Supreme Court to present evidence of his reiterated claims that his company only sold surveillance technology to government clients, the main opposition party said Tuesday.
“We are a technology provider, not mercenaries. Our technology is used every day to support the security of millions of people worldwide. We sell to government agencies in accordance with all required regulations, but we never operate the systems on their behalf,” Tal Dilian, a former Israeli intelligence officer, said in a written statement to newspaper Efimeritha ton Syntakton published Tuesday.
Dilian “insists that Greek state services possessed and used Predator, implying that he also has the relevant evidentiary material at his disposal (contracts, etc.),” said PASOK spokesperson, Kostas Tsoukalas.
“In the face of these extremely serious reports, the Supreme Court Prosecutor’s Office cannot remain inactive. Since Mr. Dilian himself claims to have evidence and makes public insinuations about persons and events related to the scandal, he must be immediately called to testify about what he knows,” he added.
“The judiciary has a duty to investigate every allegation and every new information concerning a case of major institutional importance for the country.”
