Key Facts
—Two key IDs. The Cédula de Extranjería (foreigner ID) and the RUT (tax ID) are the documents that unlock banking, work and contracts in Colombia.
—The cédula comes with your visa. Once your visa is approved you register with Migración Colombia and receive your Cédula de Extranjería, the card you show everywhere.
—The RUT is your tax ID. The RUT (Registro Único Tributario) is issued by the tax authority DIAN and is needed to work, invoice and often to open a bank account.
