Kourosh Keivani survived a missile strike on Evin Prison, but a few months later, without his family being informed of the scheduled execution date, he was executed at the Karaj Penitentiary.
Information obtained by IranWire provides a new account of the life, arrest, months of solitary confinement, and final days of this Iranian-Swedish dual citizen. Those close to him say he had traveled to Iran solely to visit his mother after nearly 10 years of separation, only to be arrested during his second week in the country.
Kourosh Keivani, born on August 10, 1989, in Tehran, was 36 years old, a father of two, and a resident of Sweden. His acquaintances describe him as athletic and calm, with a passion for motorcycling. He arrived in Iran on May 29, 2025, for a short trip that was meant to last only a few weeks, shortly before the outbreak of the 12-day war between Iran and Israel. However, on the fourth day of the war, everything changed.
The 12-day war between Iran and Israel began in the early hours of June 13, 2025. The conflict ended 12 days later, on June 24, 2025, following a ceasefire declaration. Immediately after the ceasefire, the Islamic Republic set up tribunal courts and swiftly handed down rushed verdicts, arresting a number of citizens and executing them on allegations of espionage and cooperation with the Israeli government. One of these citizens was Kourosh Keivani, whose brief journey to visit his family in Iran became his last. His two young children and his wife were left behind in Sweden forever.
