A York resident has been fined £1,023 for littering, after he claimed that a video of him committing the offence was AI-generated.
In November of last year, Dr Robert Jones, 63, of Ashville Street was filmed by a neighbour dropping cigarette ends into the street, after having observed the behaviour repeatedly.
She reported the incident to City of York Council, which issued Jones with a £500 fixed penalty notice, which Jones refused to pay.
