Dozens were left injured, including several children, in a massive attack marking one of Moscow's largest assaults on the country in recent months.‌Air sirens rang throughout the impacted areas and the Ukrainian air defence forces said they were able to destroy and suppress 40 missiles and 602 drones.‌This comes after Moscow warned "systematic strikes" would be imminent after it accused Kyiv of an attack on a student dorm, which left 21 dead, in an occupied part of Eastern Ukraine, last week.Russia today claimed the latest devastating attack was in response to Ukrainian "terrorist acts" against targets inside Russia, while also claiming several Ukrainian military targets were also hit.‌In a statement, the Russian defence ministry said: "Overnight, in ⁠response to terrorist acts of the Kyiv regime, the armed forces ⁠of the Russian Federation ‌carried out a massive strike using high-precision long-range air-, land-, and sea-based weapons."Shocking images showed residential buildings and businesses on fire as parents and children walked through debris outside their destroyed homes across Ukraine today. At least four people were killed in Kyiv and 63 people injured, including three children, Ukraine's state emergency service said. Around 140,000 people in Kyiv were left without electricity after the attacks.‌The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, said a blaze broke out at a nine-storey apartment block after flaming debris, from a nearby building that was hit with missiles, fell onto the roof. He said: "In the Obolon district, cars are burning after being struck by falling missile debris. There are also fires at two locations in open areas, including one near a kindergarten."In the central Dnipropetrovsk region, at least six people were killed and 36 others injured after Russian strikes hit the city of Dnipro. A second attack hit after responders arrived at the scene, which left one emergency worker dead.‌In Kharkiv, at least 14 people were injured and residential homes, garages and cars were damaged. People were left trapped under rubble after missiles and drones strikes destroyed larger apartment buildingsOlena Dniprovska, 65, and her husband Yevhen, 64, were injured in their apartment in Kyiv's Podilskyi district during the attack. The 65-year-old, who had dried blood on her face and bandaged around her chin, said: "I went out into the corridor with the phone, and before I understood what happened, everything fell on my head, the glass, and the door blew off.
