Buratai made the remarks during an interview on TVC, where he was asked about the military’s readiness to rescue schoolchildren and teachers abducted by gunmen in Oyo State.
Retired Lt.Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai, former Chief of Army Staff, has claimed that Nigeria’s security forces possess the capability to hunt down violent bandits and terrorists with the same efficiency they track every ordinary citizen and social media influencers.
Buratai made the remarks during an interview on TVC, where he was asked about the military’s readiness to rescue schoolchildren and teachers abducted by gunmen in Oyo State.
The abduction, which saw one of the teachers brutally beheaded, has once again exposed the fragility of security in a country battling multiple insurgencies.
Rather than offering concrete solutions or accepting institutional failures, the former army chief shifted blame toward vague “capacity issues” while insisting on the need for more recruitment, training, and retraining of operatives across the security architecture.
