A rare public rift has erupted between Chief Justice Martha Koome and the most senior lawyers after the Senior Counsel Bar boycotted a Judiciary consultative meeting and declared it would not cooperate with her until meaningful action is taken against corruption allegations within the courts.

The dispute centres on a planned Judiciary-Bar meeting held on Friday, May 29, which the Senior Counsel Bar withdrew from after learning that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) would not participate.
