A construction firm linked to NEET paper leak accused P V Kulkarni removed an unauthorised basement and RCC pillar structure from an under-construction project in Beed on Monday, just before the local civic body was set to take action. The move came after repeated notices from the Beed Municipal Council over alleged violations of planning rules, a TOI report stated. The municipal council had warned the developers that the illegal portion of the project would be demolished if corrective steps were not taken within the prescribed period. Before officials could begin the process, the builders reportedly carried out the demolition themselves using a bulldozer. Two Notices Issued Under Planning RulesAccording to municipal records, the Beed Municipal Council issued notices to Shivshakti Builders and Developers on May 20 and May 29 under provisions of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966.The second notice named five partners of the firm, including Pralhad Vitthal Kulkarni, and directed them to remove the unauthorised work. Officials said the firm had constructed a basement and erected RCC pillars on a plot measuring more than 6,000 square feet without obtaining prior approval. After the developers failed to comply with the first seven-day deadline, the council issued another notice giving them three more days. The notice also stated that demolition expenses would be recovered from the builders if the civic body had to carry out the action.Owner Removed Structure Voluntarily, Says CouncilMunicipal officials said the developers demolished the disputed portion of the project before the administration could intervene.Beed Municipal Council chief officer Shailesh Fadse said, “We had issued notices. We have received information that the owner has voluntarily removed the unauthorised construction. If an application for building permission is submitted in future, the existing status of the site will be physically verified and permission will be granted only if it complies with the rules.”Officials clarified that only the basement and RCC framework had been built and that construction of the main building had not yet started.Plot Details and Future PermissionsMunicipal records show the plot measures around 11.65 metres and 16.7 metres on its east-west sides, while the north-south sides measure approximately 41.44 metres and 40.27 metres.Authorities said any future development on the site will require fresh approvals and compliance with planning regulations before construction can proceed.Project Draws Attention Due to Kulkarni's ArrestThe project attracted public attention after Kulkarni, a resident of Beed, was arrested by the CBI in connection with the NEET question paper leak case. His arrest brought added scrutiny to activities linked to the construction firm.Civic officials maintained that any further work on the plot would be allowed only after all required permissions are obtained and planning norms are followed.
