'I Couldn’t Care Less': Trump Dismisses Concerns Of Iran Peace Negotiations CollapsingPresident Donald Trump on Monday minimized concerns that peace negotiations with Iran are collapsing after reports surfaced indicating the Middle Eastern country would suspend the high-stakes talks with the United States in protest of Israel's expanding military offensive in Lebanon. "I don’t care if they’re over, honestly. I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less. If they’re over, they’re over. If they’re not, you know, I think they took too much time," Trump told CNBC's Eamon Javers in a phone interview on Monday. "Frankly, I thought they started to get very boring. They were giving us what we needed, but I think I think they handled the negotiations poorly." Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday, in response to reports of suspended negotiations, that he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives from the Iranian-backed Lebanese military group Hezbollah about a planned Israeli ground offensive into Beruit.“I had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back,” he wrote. “Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.”The semiofficial Tasnim news agency reported on Monday the Iranian negotiating team will "suspend 'talks and the exchange of texts through mediators.'"Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reportedly told Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Monday that Iran was prepared to retaliate if Israeli attacks in Lebanon continued. “Over the past two days, we have seriously pursued efforts to stop Israel’s attacks. If these crimes continue, we will not only suspend the negotiation process, but we will also stand against the Zionist regime,” Ghalibaf said, according to the state-owned Islamic Republic News Agency. “If an agreement is reached to end the war between Iran and the United States, it will include a halt to attacks on all fronts, especially in Lebanon.”Despite the reports, Trump continued to insist, without evidence, that negotiations to extend the fragile ceasefire were ongoing. "Talks are continuing, at a rapid pace, with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday after posting about his conversations with Netanyahu and representatives from Hezbollah. The change comes after speechwriters from the Office of the Secretary of War were moved to the facility, Valdez wrote in a post on X."These speechwriters routinely handle classified material and require SIPRNet access," he said. "As a result, journalists will no longer be permitted to enter the office space. There’s nothing controversial about that."The decision, first reported by The Washington Post, comes months after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth moved to ban any reporter from the Pentagon who refused to agree to new restrictions, including a prohibition on journalists asking department officials questions without prior authorization. Vandalized Ballot Box, Burned Mail-In Ballots Discovered In L.A.Election workers in Los Angeles County discovered a vandalized ballot box and burned mail-in ballots over the weekend, the county's registrar-recorder/county clerk said. “Any attempt to vandalize election facilities, damage voting materials, or interfere with the voting process is unacceptable," Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis said in a statement. "We take these incidents seriously and will continue working with election officials and law enforcement partners to protect voters and uphold the integrity of our elections.”The damage was discovered just days before Californians head to the polls on Tuesday to vote for a new governor and several other statewide offices. Los Angeles residents will also vote for a new mayor in a highly contested race that has captured the country's attention. Progressives Brush Off Concerns About Graham Platner's Sexting ScandalSens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) were among the progressives who indicated Monday they're standing by Graham Platner, Maine's Democratic frontrunner for Senate, following reports that he sent sexually explicit messages to women outside his marriage.“I think it's important for us to focus on the issues facing working families a little bit more than Graham Platner’s marriage," Sanders told reporters.Platner, whose campaign has been rocked by multiple scandals, is running to unseat Sen. Susan Collins in a key race for Democrats to take back control of the Senate. “People can’t afford healthcare," Sanders also told The Associated Press on Monday. "Can’t afford groceries. Can’t afford to put gas in their cars. And I think it might be a good idea if we focused on the important issues facing the working families of Maine and this country." Warren, when asked by reporters if she was concerned about the reports, brushed off the question and said she's concerned about the "price of gasoline."And Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), another progressive who's endorsed Platner, announced a rally planned with him for Friday. Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), who skews more moderate, also defended Platner in an interview with NBC News."At the end of the day, this man has had 60 more town halls than Susan Collins has," he said. "He's winning the polls, he's willing to accept that he has grown as a person, and I think we should accept that."Maine Gov. Janet Mills (D) suspended her campaign for Senate in April, citing a lack of financial resources to take on Platner. But in an interview with the Portland Press Herald on Monday, Mills reminded voters that she's "still on the ballot." Platner, an oyster farmer, previously faced criticism for resurfaced social media posts in which he made offensive comments about women and dismissed cases of sexual assault and rape in the military. He has since apologized for the posts and said they were the result of his struggle with PTSD and depression after leaving the Army in 2012. He also recently covered up a skull and crossbones tattoo that resembled a Nazi symbol, saying he was not aware of its associations when he got it.NYC Mayor Signs Hilarious 'Executive Order' Ahead Of Knicks NBA Final Run Against SpursNew York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani signed a mock executive order on Monday aimed at ensuring even the youngest Knicks fans can see their team take on the San Antonio Spurs in this week's NBA Finals. Minnesota Republicans Hold Bizarre Moment Of Silence For George Floyd's Convicted KillerMinnesota Republicans took time out of their convention this past weekend to give a collective tribute to Derek Chauvin, the convicted former Minneapolis cop whose murder of George Floyd in 2020 launched nationwide protests against police brutality and racial injustice. The party granted a delegate's request on Saturday that attendees stand in silence for about 10 seconds for Chauvin just days after the anniversary of him killing Floyd, who was Black, by kneeling on his neck for more than nine minutes. Chauvin was sentenced to more than 22 years in prison after a jury handed down a murder conviction in the case, as well as a separate concurrent 21-year sentence for violating Floyd's civil rights. Despite the courts shutting down all appeals efforts, some Republicans have called for the ex-officer to be pardoned."There are a lot of people I think that believe Derek Chauvin was improperly convicted and not treated well, and those people wanted to have a moment of silence in recognition because they felt that way," Minnesota GOP chair Alex Plechash told WCCO radio on Monday.Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, who served as the case's lead prosecutor, called the moment of silence "an act of profound cruelty to the Floyd family and to every Minnesotan who believes in accountability under law."Tina Peters Gets Out Of Jail, Immediately Returns To The Big Lie That Landed Her ThereIn 2024, District Judge Matthew Barrett excoriated Tina Peters at her sentencing hearing, noting the disgraced former Colorado election clerk showed no remorse during her trial for having tampered with the voting machines she’d sworn to secure.“I am convinced you would do it all over again if you could. You’re as defiant as any defendant this court has ever seen,” Barrett told her in handing down a nine-year sentence. “You are no hero. You abused your position and you’re a charlatan.”Read more:Breaking UpdateTrump Admin Dropping $1.8B 'Anti-Weaponization Fund'WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump is dropping his $1.8 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund,” Axios and other outlets reported Monday. The White House did not immediately respond to requests to confirm the news.Read more here:Sen. United States partially halts the ban on trans service members. While the case continues, the six trans plaintiffs currently serving in the military are protected from being expelled, though the recruitment ban on trans people enlisting in the military still remains in effect. The Trump administration is expected to ask for a full appeals court to hear the case, which could tee up another battle at the Supreme Court. Last year the Supreme Court's conservative majority allowed the trans military ban to go into effect while litigation for a separate lawsuit, Shilling v. United States, played out.Circuit Judge Robert Wilkins, appointed by President Barack Obama, wrote in his majority that Trump’s policy appeared to be “driven by the bare desire to harm a politically unpopular group.”Trump appointee, Judge Justin Walker, wrote the dissent and argued that judges do not have the authority to second-guess the military’s decision to bar trans troops. Judge Judith Rogers, a President Bill Clinton nominee, joined Wilkins' opinion but also partially dissented.Jill Biden Took A Big Credibility Hit With Recent Talk Of Her Husband, Ex-Spokesperson SaysAn ex-press secretary for Jill Biden said the former first lady has done “more harm than good for her credibility” by exhuming memories of her husband’s disastrous 2024 debate performance and the resulting concerns for his health.“The toothpaste is out of the tube,” Michael LaRosa said in an interview with CNN’s Paula Reid on Sunday. “So the problem for her is, as I said before, she is saying something completely different now that only invites the rest of us to ask, was she telling the truth then, or is she telling the truth now?”Read more:See All Updates
