Paris, June 1 (EFE).- Aryna Sabalenka beat Japan’s Naomi Osaka 7-5, 6-3 on Monday, booking her spot for the Roland Garros semifinals in Paris.

The Belarusian, last year’s finalist, remains the clear favorite after the elimination of the defending champion, Coco Gauff, and four-time Paris winner, Iga Swiatek of Poland. Sabalenka has not lost a set in the tournament so far.

In pursuit of her fifth Grand Slam title, Sabalenka overcame Osaka’s resistance. Osaka had never advanced this far in a clay-court tournament before.

She will face Russia’s Diana Shnaider in the semifinals. Shnaider defeated last year’s Australian Open champion, Madison Keys, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0. EFE
