Staff at the University of Nottingham have begun a two month strike, along with a marking boycott, over plans to cut more than 700 jobs and shut down dozens of degree programmes altogether.
The University and College Union accused college bosses of “taking a wrecking ball” which would “utterly devastate” the institution for years to come.
And Nottingham is just one of many universities across the country facing similar funding crises.
