The Football Federation has announced the final 24-player roster for the Islamic Republic's football team to participate in the 2026 World Cup.
Alireza Beiranvand, Seyed Hossein Hosseini, Seyed Payam Niazmand, Ehsan Hajsafi, Milad Mohammadi, Ali Nemati, Danial Iri, Shojae Khalilzadeh, Mohammad Hossein Kanaanizadegan, Aria Yousefi, Saleh Hardani, Ramin Rezaeian, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Saeid Ezatolahi, Rouzbeh Cheshmi, Amirmohammad Razagnia, Mohammad Mohebi, Mehdi Ghayedi, Saman Ghoddos, Mohammad Ghorbani, Mehdi Torabi, Ali Alipour, Shahriyar Moghanlou, Dennis Dargahi, Amirhossein Hosseinzadeh, and Mehdi Taremi are the players selected by head coach Amir Ghalenoei for the 2026 World Cup. (Note: The source text lists 26 players despite explicitly referring to a "24-player" roster.)
The team's coaching staff also announced that Mohammad Khalifeh and Omid Noorafkan have been placed on the standby list and will accompany the team to the World Cup, where they can be brought in as replacements up to 24 hours before matches in the event of a player injury.
Consequently, Amirhossein Mahmoudi, Kasra Taheri, and Hadi Habibinejad have been permanently dropped from the team's roster.
One of the peculiar aspects of the preliminary roster invited to the training camp in Turkey was the inclusion of Amirhossein Mahmoudi, a player who only had a record of five appearances, fewer than 400 minutes, in the Persian Gulf Pro League.
