June 1 (UPI) -- A South Carolina woman said a sale on cat food led to her winning a $1 million prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket.

The Bluffton resident told South Carolina Education Lottery officials she made a trip to the Publix store in Bluffton to pick up some cat food on sale.

"I was really tired, but I needed to get the cat food before the buy one, get one sale ended," she told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

She said she only had a few minutes before the store closed to pick out some lottery tickets.
