June 1 (UPI) -- Animal law enforcement officers in Colorado responded to a neighborhood on an unusual call that marked a local first: a pig's tusk was caught in a fence.
The Humane Society of the Pike's Peak Region said animal law enforcement officials responded last week when a neighbor reported a pig named Edgar had managed to his tusk hooked in a fence.
"There are a lot of calls our Animal Law Enforcement team expects to get. A pig stuck in a fence by his tusk? That one was new," the Humane Society said on social media.
Officials said the officers attempted to use bolt cutters to free Edgar, but ended up calling the Colorado Springs Fire Department to help out with "stronger equipment."
The rescuers were able to cut through the fence and free Edgar.
