Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar at a media conference at the Husnabad MLA camp office in Hyderabad on Monday.
Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar demanded an apology from Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan to the people of Telangana before holding his proposed ‘Nava Nirman Sabha’ in Hyderabad.Addressing a media conference at the Husnabad MLA camp office, he alleged that Mr. Pawan Kalyan had repeatedly made remarks that hurt the self-respect and sentiments of the people of Telangana and was now attempting to carry out the BJP’s political agenda in the State. The Minister said there was no objection if Mr. Pawan Kalyan wished to participate in Telangana Formation Day celebrations, but strongly objected to the decision to organise a political meeting in the State. He accused the Jana Sena chief of having opposed the formation of Telangana in the past and said he must first clarify his earlier statements and tender an apology to Telangana society.Mr. Prabhakar alleged that the proposed meeting was aimed at creating political divisions and provoking tensions in Telangana at the behest of the BJP. He questioned why similar ‘Nava Nirman Sabhas’ were not being organised in BJP-ruled States such as Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh and claimed the Hyderabad event was politically motivated. The Minister maintained that Telangana shares cordial relations with Andhra Pradesh and that people of both Telugu States should continue to maintain mutual respect.
