A Datafolha survey shows a tie among six Brazilian beaches favored by residents of São Paulo, four of them in the Northeast. Fernando de Noronha, Porto de Galinhas, Maragogi, and Maceió tied with Ubatuba and Copacabana, each receiving 3% to 4% of preferences. Ubatuba leads the Southeast category for the third consecutive year.
Among exclusively Northeastern beaches, Porto de Galinhas and Maragogi lead with 6%, followed by Maceió (5%), Jericoacoara, Pipa, and Natal (4% each). Most destinations are easily accessible: Maceió and Natal are state capitals with strong urban infrastructure, hotel networks, and diverse cuisine, also serving as hubs for nearby destinations such as the Genipabu dunes. Jericoacoara and Fernando de Noronha have their own airports; Porto de Galinhas is one hour from Recife; Maragogi, two hours from Maceió.
Fernando de Noronha, the only archipelago among the favorites, has become more accessible with direct flights from Guarulhos operated by Gol and Latam. The island maintains environmental restrictions to preserve its marine biodiversity and rock formations.
Copacabana stands out for its urban profile, hosting major international concerts and having water quality considered suitable for swimming in most state reports.
