Police producing two more suspects involved in the foetal sex determination racket at Bangarupalem in Chittoor district on Monday.

The Chittoor police on Monday arrested two suspects who had been absconding in connection with an illegal foetal sex determination racket busted in Bangarupalem mandal on Sunday, bringing the total arrests to six.The police raided an under-construction house near Chandrasekharapuram village near Bangarupalem on Sunday. The operation resulted in the arrest of four accused and confiscation of an advanced ultrasound scanning machine used for conducting illegal prenatal gender tests.The Bangarupalem police said that the two accused were identified as B. Sudhakar Reddy and C. Nagaraju from Chittoor, who played a vital role in the illegal network. While Sudhakar Reddy is the alleged mastermind who procured the scanning equipment and coordinated the operation, Nagaraju allegedly contacted pregnant women from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Telangana, facilitating their travel to Bangarupalem for the illegal tests and collecting ₹10,000 from each of them.The police said that, so far, 14 pregnant women have been identified as victims, and their statements have been recorded. A passenger autorickshaw allegedly used to transport the woman has also been seized. The police said that the investigation into the case has been intensified.
