Mahbubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy deposed before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged phone tapping case on Monday. Mr. Srinivas Reddy had earlier lodged a complaint with the then Hyderabad Police Commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy alleging that his phone had been tapped by the Telangana State Level Agency during the tenure of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi government.The MLA appeared before the investigating officer at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Hyderabad after being served a notice in connection with the case.The Investigation Officer of the case, P. Venkatagiri, ACP Jubilee Hills, had issued a notice stating that the investigation revealed that Mr. Srinivas Reddy was acquainted with the facts and circumstances relevant to the case and that his statement was required for the probe.Officials said the notice was the second one issued to the legislator. An earlier notice had been served on July 7, 2025, seeking his appearance before the SIT.The SIT has been recording statements of legislators who had alleged that their phones were tapped ahead of the Assembly elections. Officials said the legislators are being treated as witnesses in the case and their statements are being collected as part of the investigation.The case came to light after the arrest of former SIB DSP Praneeth Rao on March 13, 2024. He was picked up from his residence in Rajanna Sircilla following a complaint by Additional SP D.
