Former Barcelona and Spain star Andres Iniesta is to take his first coaching role with Gulf United FC of the United Arab Emirates First Division.Now Dubai-based, Iniesta has completed his A coaching licence and is to take his first coaching job in the UAE’s secon tier with Gulf United, as he studies for his Pro license.Among the most talented midfielders in Spanish football history, Iniesta famously scored the winning goal at the 2010 World Cup and also won the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.The La Masia graduate spent most of his playing days at Barcelona, winning multiple trophies including four Champions Leagues and nine La Liga titles, before late-career spells with Japanese club Vissel Kobe from 2018 to 2023 and in the UAE with Emirates Club in 2023-24.“Gulf United FC seems to me the perfect place to begin this new chapter,” Iniesta said, via the club website. “Football has given me everything and now I want to give something back, through training, education and daily work with young players who have the hunger and talent necessary to go far.
