The Telangana government will implement the Employee Health Scheme (EHS) through a dedicated Employee Health Care Trust, which is expected to be constituted within the next few days, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao announced on Monday (June 1).The decision was conveyed during a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary with members of the Joint Staff Council and representatives of various employees’ associations. The discussions focused on strengthening and streamlining healthcare services for government employees, pensioners and their dependent family members.“The State government is committed to ensuring accessible, quality and hassle-free healthcare services for serving employees, pensioners and their dependents across Telangana. The proposed Trust would function as a dedicated institutional mechanism to deliver healthcare benefits in an efficient and transparent manner,” said Mr. Rao.Mr. Rao said the Trust would enjoy full autonomy and would be empowered to take independent decisions in the interests of beneficiaries. He also assured representatives that the government is taking steps to establish a sustainable and responsive healthcare system for employees and pensioners and that feedback from employee organisations would be considered while finalising the framework.
