More than 890 people were arrested and 178 members of security forces were injured in widespread disorder across France following Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League final win over Arsenal on Saturday.The startling figures were revealed by French home secretary Laurent Nunez, who said “a great deal of looting” took place across the country in the aftermath of the match.French president Emmanuel Macron has condemned the “unacceptable scenes of violence in Paris” and vowed to end the unrest which has characterised the aftermath of big victories for PSG in Europe.More than 300 of the arrests were made during violent scenes in Paris, according to the Parisian Public Prosecutor’s Office, which revealed details of a number of remarkable incidents on a night of chaos in the capital. These included:
225 adults and 87 minors taken into police custody during the night of Saturday, May 30 to 31
Two crews of police struck by shrapnel from what may have been a bomb, leaving one officer requiring surgery
Among the arrests was an off-duty police officer for pointing a weapon at a man in a car
One individual rushed to hospital in a critical condition after jumping into the River Seine and suffering a cardiac arrest
