I don’t need to tell you how difficult it is to find the right swimsuit. But it helps to know what’s worked for other people, especially the swimsuits that have lasted for years of sunbathing (with SPF, of course) and getting walloped in the ocean. To help (as I did last year), I polled my rolodex of beachgoers, pool loungers, and lake dockers about the swimsuits they’ll be wearing for what’s looking like a long hot summer. Here you’ll find everything from a bikini “for playing mermaids at the beach” to a maillot that went on a boat ride to where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed.
