Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing in New Delhi on June 1 as both countries moved to strengthen strategic, economic, and security cooperation. The leaders reviewed ties across trade, connectivity, technology, security, and people-to-people exchanges at Hyderabad House during the Myanmar President’s first official visit to India in his current role. Ahead of the talks, Min Aung Hlaing met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and also visited the Mahabodhi Temple in Bihar. India and Myanmar discussed trade expansion, border security, and connectivity, while India also explored access to Myanmar’s critical minerals and rare earth resources amid global supply chain competition. Bilateral trade stood at about USD 2.15 billion in FY25, with Myanmar exporting USD 1.53 billion and India exporting USD 614.3 million. Show more Show less
