Ali Fazal and Sonali Bendre have joined hands for a fresh investigative crime thriller titled Raakh. This is the first time that the two will be sharing screen space together. Fazal, who was last seen in Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino, will be playing the role of a Sub-Inspector Jayprakash in the series, directed and produced by Prosit Roy. Raakh has been created, written and co-directed by Sandeep Saket and Anusha Nandakumar. Meanwhile, Ayush Trivedi is credited for the show’s dialogues. The poster captures Ali Fazal dressed in a police uniform staring at a corpse with a look of shock and horror on his face. The overcast sky, partly illuminated with police car lights indicates a gritty and dark narrative that is likely to keep viewers hooked to the screen. Raakh: Plot and cast detailsRaakh is inspired by infamous Ranga-Billa case where 2 men Kuljeet AKA Ranga Khush and Jasbir Singh AKA Bengali AKA Billa were hanged for sexually assaulting 2 teenagers in Delhi. Set in the late 1970s, the series follows Sub-Inspector Jayprakash’s gruelling investigatin of the shocking crime when 2 youngsters go missing. Jayprakash’s search leads to unsettling revelations and hidden secrets which take an emotional toll on him. Beyond the missing-person theme, Raakh also explores the plight of the victim’s families and the darker side of human psychology, behaviour, guilt, trauma and redemption.Besides Ai Fazal, Sonali Sonali Bendre essays the character of a school teacher and a grieving mother whose children go missing. Meanwhile, actor Aamir Bashir slips into the shoes of Lt Col Ashok Arora, a disciplined man dealing with personal grief. Akash Makhija, Ramandeep Yadav, Divya Sharma, Vivaan Sharma, Anshul Chauhan, Rakesh Bedi and Dibyendu Bhattacharya are also a part of the cast.
