MIA's lawsuit alleges breach of contract, claiming she was contractually allowed to express herself freely on stage. Her team accuses Cudi of attempting to "silence freedom of artistic expression" and removing her to generate publicity for the tour, which allegedly struggled with ticket sales. MIA was dropped after making remarks during a Dallas show, including claiming she was "cancelled for being a brown Republican voter" and referencing her song "Illygal". Cudi stated he had informed MIA's team he did not want "anything offensive" at his shows and removed her after receiving messages from upset fans.
