Speaking about Obasanjo, whom he described as both a friend and one of his harshest critics, Amaechi said the former president possesses a strong belief in his own ability to solve Nigeria’s problems.

Former Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a “messianic” figure who believes he is uniquely destined to save Nigeria.

Amaechi made the remarks during an interview with Nigerian filmmaker Chude Jideonwo, where he reflected on his relationships with key political figures, Nigeria’s electoral culture, and the state of the country's democracy.

Speaking about Obasanjo, whom he described as both a friend and one of his harshest critics, Amaechi said the former president possesses a strong belief in his own ability to solve Nigeria’s problems.

“I like Obasanjo a lot, and he knows that. I'm also one of his worst critics,” Amaechi said.
